Howdy Ruggers,
August 8th was our 8th weekly practise! The forecast called for rain, and the Rogues were excited for a practice in some typical cool and damp Vancouver weather, but it ended being another scorcher. Remember your water, folks! Luckily, it was a perfect day for another TV interview: this time, the Rogues were joined by Outlook TV and their reporter Sister Fancy Pants.
As usual, practise began with some drills. We started with the traffic drills from last week, where we have two sets of perpendicular runners trying to cross a square. The focus is on good throws and keeping an eye on 'the traffic' as you go through the intersection.
The Rogues are also starting to get ready for contact! We got into partners and performed some stretches and 'pushing' drills, where we try to knock over each other. In another drill, we had to interlock our heads and our arms and try to push each other over.
Our Rogue Rookie of the Day was Nico Montagut! Even though he's new to the game, he brings drive, passion, and an attitude we love to see in our ruggers. Make sure you say congrats next time you see him! We ended our day with a few drinks and some food at the Meraloma club, followed by an after party at Pumpjack.
